WOMEN'S TENNIS: The Ventura College women's tennis team had multiple players qualify for The Ojai Tournament and the CCCAA State Championships to be held later this month in play on day two of the Western State Conference Championships Saturday at the VC Tennis Center. Yannick Garcia advanced to the WSC singles final while the doubles team of Georgia Farrar and Karissa Coronel moved through the back draw to qualify for state, as well. Meanwhile Lela Faasua and Dania Huacuja moved closer to The Ojai with a win in the doubles back draw.
Garcia won a pair of matches to qualify for the WSC championship in singles. That match will be held Friday Apr. 11 at 12:00 pm on the championship courts of the VC Tennis Center. Jessica Moore won her first singles match in the back draw of the tournament, but fell in a qualifying match Saturday. Meanwhile, Garcia and Moore lost in the WSC quarterfinals, but had already punched their ticket to The Ojai with a win on Friday.
After losing their first doubles match Friday, Farrar and Coronel came back with a pair of wins to qualify for state. Meanwhile Faasua and Huacuja stayed alive with a doubles win Saturday. They will finish their back draw on Friday April 11, as well.
The CCCAA State Championships will be held in conjunction with The Ojai Tournament April 24-27.
