MENIFEE - After recording only four hits on Tuesday in a 13-0 loss to Taft, the Marauder baseball team rebounded and was able to hold on for an 11-10 victory over Mt. San Jacinto.
Kyle Lathrop let the Marauders with three hits, three runs and two RBI, which gives him a team-leading 21 on the season, more than double any other Marauder player. Lathrop ranks 11th in the state in that category.
Lathrop was one of four different AVC players to have multiple hits in the game. Eddie Marcotte, Trevor Morrison and Blake Leidholdt each had two hits for AVC.
The Marauders built a 10-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning behind starter Austin Grabbitt, who picked up his fourth victory of the season. Leidholdt was solid in relief as he pitched three strong innings allowing only two hits while striking out four to collect the save.
The Marauders had four extra-base hits and Lathrop stole three more bases giving him 11 on the season, which ranks sixth in the state.
