VENTURA - Morgan Arndt was superb on the mound allowing only two hits to the Western State Conference-North Division leader as the Marauder softball team scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat host Ventura College Saturday afternoon in Ventura.
Arndt (22-2), ranks No. 3 in the state for wins this season.
"This is good for us," AVC head coach Cindy Vargas said. "We need games like this, especially heading into to playoffs."
The Marauders (31-5, 16-0) extended their winning streak to 23 games. Their last loss was against Palomar College on Feb. 24.
The Marauders, leaders of the East Division, outhit the Pirates (17-5, 26-12), 8-2. Kyrstan Cook singled home Sally Miramontes, who led off the inning by reaching on an error. AVC added three more runs with two outs for some more insurance for Arndt.
