LANCASTER - For the second time this season the Marauder women's tennis team was on the verge of its first conference victory against Bakersfield College.
And for the second time the Marauders dropped a close match to the Renegades, 5-4, on Thursday afternoon at Antelope Valley College.
The score was tied 3-3 entering the doubles' matches, but AVC dropped two of three giving Bakersfield the victory.
Karly Britton continued her dominance this season by defeating Brittany Aguilar rather handily, 6-0, 6-1. Karlie Heckenliable also had no problems defeating the Renegades' Ashley Guillen. Britton and Heckenliable teamed up to win the only match for the Marauders, defeating Aguilar and Claire Tomboc, 9-7.
Nina Nguimzon defeated Tomboc, 6-3, 6-3, for the only other AVC victory.
