LANCASTER - What else can be said about the Marauder softball team this season.
Another conference title. Records being broken. Winning streak hits 22 games. State notoriety.
AVC impressed with another dominant performance with an 18-2 victory against Victor Valley College, Thursday afternoon at Marauder Stadium.
"Our team is on fire right now. They have so much confidence and love for one another. They give everything they have every time they step on the field," AVC head coach Cindy Vargas said. "It feels great to have won the conference championship. That was one of the team goals set at the beginning of the season. Now we hope to finish our last three games strong and take that momentum into the playoffs."
Dolly Stevens hit three solo home runs and Paige Johnson hit another two to help propel the Marauders to victory. Johnson and Stevens are 1-2 in the state in home runs with 19 and 16 respectively.
With her two home runs, Johnson broke the school record for home runs in a single season. The old record was 17 set by Adriana Perez. Johnson also leads the state in RBI with 83.
Morgan Arndt won her 21st game of the season, ranking her second in the state.
AVC led 8-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning and added 10 more runs to seal the victory.
