LANCASTER - Celsea McGrew won both her single's and double's match, but it was not enough as the Marauder tennis team lost its final match of the season, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon at Antelope Valley College.
The Marauders finished their season having won only two matches this season, at home against College of the Sequoias and on the road in a conference match against Santa Monica.
McGrew (4-8, in singles this season) defeated the Roadrunners' No. 1 singles' player Nicole Robbins in a tough match, 6-4, 7-5. She then teamed up with Laney Ricker and defeated Nicole Moreno and Delia Hidalgo, pretty handily, 8-3.
Karly Britton (8-4) finished her impressive season as the only other AVC player to win on Tuesday, by defeating Trecia Gonzaga, in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0.
AVC (2-11, 1-9) entered the doubles' matches trailing 4-2 and needing to win all three to capture the victory, however, the Roadrunners took two of three from the Marauders for the victory.
Hidalgo defeated Ricker in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Gonzaga and teammate Roxanne Valverde defeated Britton and Nina Nquimzon, 8-6.
