VENTURA - Kaitilin Stephenson recorded her second double-double of the season as she scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds leading the Marauder women's basketball team to a 51-46 overtime victory against Rio Hondo College, Thursday at the Ventura College Tournament.
The Marauders (5-10) will face No. 6 ranked Mt. San Jacinto College in the Consolation Championship on Friday.
AVC was dismal in the first half, including scoring only two points in the second quarter. It wasn't like the Roadrunners shot much better and the Marauders only trailed 20-9 at halftime.
"We had a horrible first two quarters. We could not hit an open shot," AVC head coach Barry Green said.
Makaela Manson led the Marauders with 19 points, including five 3-pointers while playing all 45 minutes of the game. Deja Smith finished with seven points and 10 rebounds and Ashley Shaw added six points and 12 rebounds.
The Marauders only shot nine percent from the field in the first half, including 1-for-20 from 3-point range in the first two quarters.
