MARAUDER WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 40 MINUTES FROM CONFERENCE TITLE

GLENDORA - It probably wasn't the way Marauder women's basketball head coach drew it up, but the Marauders are only one win away from at least sharing a piece of the conference title pie.
AVC certainly didn't shoot the ball well, but it shot well enough to earn a 47-38 victory against host Citrus College, Wednesday night.
LA Valley College had no problems with a 79-59 victory so the Marauders are tied for first place atop the Western State Conference-East Division standings with the Monarchs. LA Valley and AVC split the season series with each team holding serve on its home court.
However, things are complete for the Marauders as they still have to defeat third place Glendale College on Saturday night at Maraduer Gymnasium. And AVC has to throw out the fact that even though it defeated Glendale 71-47 on Jan. 28, it still has to handle its business.
Kaitilin Stephenson led the Marauders with 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, her seventh double-double of the season.
The Marauders were only 2-of-24 from 3-point range and only led 20-15 at halftime.
Brieanna Perkins finished with 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds and hit AVC's only two 3-pointers of the game.
