Sophomore point guard E'maniee Powell scored in double figures for the second straight game with 16 points. She also had three rebounds and three assists.
The Knights had a good start to the game as they took a 15-8 lead late in the first quarter, but it didn't last long. Citrus used an 11-0 run to take a 19-15 lead midway through the second quarter. The Knights, however, regained a 27-25 halftime lead after a steal by Desiree Prado and a breakaway layup by Angeleah Johnson that beat the buzzer.
It was a seesaw battle for most of the second half with neither team able to take a lead larger than three points until Citrus hit a 3-pointer with 6:58 remaining in the fourth quarter to put the Owls ahead, 47-43.
The Knights did not get any closer than within three points the rest of the way as Citrus pulled away for the road win.
City has lost four in a row and fell to 1-8 on the season. The Knights will play three games next week at MiraCosta's 2nd Annual Coast Classic.
The Knights will start with L.A. Harbor at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 18. They will then play Porterville at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and West L.A. at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
