Destinee King and Stella Dulay scored 20 points each on Friday as SBCC forged a 41-22 halftime lead on the way to a 74-59 women's basketball triumph over San Diego Mesa at the Saddleback Lady Gaucho Classic.

The Vaqueros (3-3) advanced to the consolation final of the eight-team tourney in Mission Viejo. They'll take on WSC North rival Moorpark on Saturday at 10 a.m.

King hit 8-of-13 from the field and had a double-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds (six offensive) and four blocked shots. Dulay, a 5-8 sophomore guard/forward, tossed in 20 points in 23 minutes. She made 7-14 from the field, including 4-7 from 3-point range.

Jocelin Petatan added nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Alyssa Cosio had nine points and five boards while Jada Clark contributed seven points and eight rebounds.

The Vaqueros jumped out to an 18-5 lead, then the Olympians (1-3) cut it to five at 27-22. Petatan hit a triple, igniting a 14-0 spurt that gave SBCC a 19-point halftime lead.

The Vaqueros outshot Mesa 44.3 to 34.7 percent and won the rebound battle, 51-35. They led by 23 points in the third (56-33) and fourth quarters (68-45).

"It was nice to come back and score in the 70s after Thursday night (when they lost 76-56)," said SBCC coach Sandrine Krul. "We did well on the boards and we're still fighting the turnovers."

Twelve Vaqueros got into Friday's game and 10 of them scored.

"It's always awesome when you can play everyone," Krul concluded. "That really helps to build team chemistry."
