LANCASTER - Clayton Rabiej, coming off last week's no hitter, pitched well, but it was the defense that let him down this time as the Marauder baseball team lost to Victor Valley, 4-3, Thursday afternoon.
Rabiej pitched eight solid innings allowing only three runs, all of those unearned. AVC committed six errors on the afternoon. Of the four runs allowed by the Marauders, all were unearned.
Victor Valley defeated AVC (1-5) 5-2 on Tuesday at Victor Valley College. Tyler Pittmon was 3-for-5, including three doubles, and scored two runs and teammate Aron Avila collected two hits for the Marauders.
The game was held scoreless for the first five innings before Victor Valley broke free in the top of the sixth inning with two runs to take a 2-0 lead. AVC responded in the bottom half of the inning, including RBI singles by Rabiej and Arturo Sanchez.
AVC board member Michael Adams threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
