Haley Reed Hits a Home Run at College of the Canyons but Warriors Fall 5-4

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Warriors traveled to College of the Canyons on Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars rallied to upend the Warriors in the seventh inning to give El Camino their first loss of the season. Haley Reed scored the only home run as well as two RBI while Raelani Camez and Kattya Calderon each earned one.

El Camino struck two runs in the first inning to give them the lead. With two outs, Reed hit a homerun that brought in Kamryn Fisher as well. The Cougars earned a run in the first inning as well with a double by Micayla Aguilar.

The Cougars went on to tie the game in the second inning with a hit by Melanie Abzun. Canyons then took the lead at the bottom of the fourth with a run by Jordan Vallejo.

Behind just by one, the Warriors came back in the sixth inning to score two more runs. Calderon earned her RBI with a triple that brought home Karla Calderon, who then scored off a ground ball by Camez. Unable to make any runs at the top of the seventh, the Warriors fell behind once more with the Cougars responding with two runs to end the game in their favor.

"I thought we did a good job defensively keeping their hitters off balance and somewhat stifling their always potent offense," shared Coach Jessica Rapoza.

"Offensively I thought our approach at the plate was very undisciplined and we were getting ourselves out instead of making the other team get us out. I am excited to work on that aspect and come out much more disciplined against Chaffey."

Fisher went 2-4 at the plate while Ashley Machado went 2-2. The loss puts the Warriors 3-1 on the season and will travel to Chaffey College on Thursday to take on the Panthers at 3 pm.
