ECC Baseball Is Now 5-0 To Start The Season

VALLEY GLEN, Calif. – Due to field conditions, the Warriors traveled to LA Valley College to face the Monarchs, defeating them 11-5. The Warriors are now 5-0 to start the season. 

After being down by 1 run up until the 3rd inning, the Warriors' momentum switched, and bats were not shy. In the top of the 3rd inning, sophomore Noah Barba hit a base clearing triple to put the Warriors up 4-1. In the top of the 5th inning, freshman Cody Wissler hit a triple driving an in another run, putting the Warriors in the lead 7-2.  In the top of the 7th inning, Wissler hit a double scoring 2, increasing the Warriors lead 9-3. In the top of the 9th, sophomore Jake Carr singled extending the lead 11-3.

Wissler was 3 for 4 with a single, double and a triple, 3 RBI and Barba was 2 for 4 with 2 triples and 3 RBI.

Freshman Ricky Ramos threw the first 6 innings for the win, picking off a runner at 2nd base to end the 6th inning. Freshman Kenneth Haus closed out the 7th inning, getting out all 3 Monarch batters he faced.  Haus had 2 perfect innings of relief. After 8 ½ innings, the Warriors led 11-3 and freshman Trevor Talpas came in to close out the game. The Warriors, with continued valiant effort, won 11-5. 

Coach Nathan Fernley commented, "We did a good job today of being patient at the plate and really took care of the ball on defense."

 

The Warriors head to Bakersfield for a three game tournament on Thursday, February 9th.
