AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING FOR MARAUDER BASEBALL

VALLEY GLEN - The Marauder baseball team hit the lucky number seven on Thursday by winning its seventh consecutive game to start the season after pounding out 15 hits and earning a thrilling 8-5 victory over LA Valley.
AVC had a seemingly comfortable 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, however, the Monarchs were able to tie the game and sent it to extra innings. In the extra frame, Kyle Lathrop smacked a two-run double which was preceded by an RBI by Eddie Marcotte giving the Marauders a three-run lead. LA Valley could not respond in the bottom of the 10th to solidify AVC's victory.
Ethan Avant was 3-for-6 with three doubles and one RBI. On the short season, Avant has compiled nine extra base hits and leads the team with a .464 batting average. Lathrop was 3-for-6 as well with two doubles and three RBI. Lathrop leads the team with 12 RBI this season.
The 7-0 start to the season is the second best in school history. The 2007 team opened its season winning its first 10 games, That team finished the season with a 27-12-1 overall record.
Blake Leidholt was stellar on the mound for AVC. He pitched seven strong innings allowing only six hits and one earned run. Andrew Elliott picked up the victory for the Marauders after pitching 2 1/3 innings allowing only one hit and no runs. Five players had multiple hits for AVC.
