GLENDALE - The Marauder women's tennis had a difficult time losing to Glendale College, 8-0, on Thursday afternoon at Glendale College.
Previously unbeaten Karly Britton dropped her second consecutive match of the season, losing to the Vaqueros' Tsukimi Ono, 6-3, 6-3. Britton (4-2), AVC's No. 2 player, had won her first four matches of season before losing in straight sets last Tuesday against Tyler Bunderson of Santa Barbara City College.
Since winning its first match of the seaosn against College of the Sequoias, AVC has dropped five straight matches and is winless in the Western States Conference.
AVC's No. 1 singles player Celsea McGrew was defeated by Glendale's Viktorika Shumakova, 6-1, 6-2. Nina Nguimzon played well but lost in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (10-7). That was as close as the Marauders would get.
