Four Knights scored in double figures on Friday, including Breeana Gafare who led with 17 points, but they couldn't hang on to a 7-point 4th quarter lead and fell at home to Citrus, 75-71.
Gafare filled up the stat sheet with nine rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks. Elliott Nixon scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Alissa Wolfblack had 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, while Kaylynn Cooper added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Knights won the rebound battle by a 57-35 margin and had a 29-8 advantage on offensive boards, which led to 26 second chance points, but it wasn't enough against Citrus.
City fell behind by 11 points midway through the second quarter, but rallied back to cut Citrus' lead down to 47-43 by halftime. Gafare scored 11 points in the second quarter and capped it off with a 3-pointer from mid-court to end the half.
The Knights went on a 13-2 run in the third quarter that resulted in them gaining a 7-point lead, their largest of the game. That lead, however, was gone midway through the fourth quarter when Citrus, led by Kyannie Brown's 27 points, used a 12-2 run to go ahead, 67-64, with 4:56 remaining.
Wolfblack got the Knights to within one point after hitting a pair of free throws with 47 seconds left, but Citrus' Keely Wall hit a jumper on the other end to go back up by three.
With 19 second left, Nixon took a 3-pointer that would've tied the game, but it missed and the Knights never got another chance to force an overtime.
The Knights fell to 3-6 on the season and will play their next home game on December 28 at 3 p.m. against Los Angeles Southwest.
