TAFT - The Marauder baseball team lost an extra inning game, 4-3, to Taft College Tuesday afternoon.
AVC (5-9) trailed 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth inning but was able to tie the score following RBI singles by Daniel Gomez that scored Ethan Avant and Michael Behen which scored Zach Diaz to tie the score 2-2.
Taft (5-7-1) ralied in the bottom half of the inning with a run to take a 3-2 lead. Diaz later hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the score.
"We played a lot better today, but we just couldn't string enough hits together," Kyle Lathrop said. "We played solid. Andrew (Wilson) threw really well today. He kept us in the game."
Wilson pitched solid inning as he scattered nine hits and only allowed three runs.
The game went to the bottom of the 10th inning and with two outs and a runner on third base, the Cougars scored the game-winning run following a wild pitch.
Lathrop was 2-for-5 at the plate and increased his team-leading batting average to .379. Diaz was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
