LANCASTER - The Marauder baseball team outhit visiting Ventura College, but it was the Pirates that came away with a 6-0 victory over AVC, Thursday afternoon at Marauder Stadium.
The score was tied 0-0 in a pitching duel for the first six innings of the game, however, Ventura broke free with two runs in the top of the seventh inning including a walk, a single, a hit batter and a steal home claiming a 2-0 lead.
AVC rallied in the bottom of the eighth inning by loading the bases with three consecutive singles by Joseph Cochran, Frankie Linstrom and Kyle Lathrop with only one out. The Marauders were unable to plate a run as Ventura got the final two outs of the inning.
Ventura added four more runs in the top of the ninth inning to add insurance to its 2-0 lead.
AVC starter Andrew Garcia was solid on the mound as he pitched six strong innings allowing only two runs on four hits. Cochran and Lathrop each had two hits for the Marauders.
