VICTORVILLE - The Marauder baseball team dug itself a hole the first two innings and couldn't respond, losing to Victor Valley College, 5-2, Tuesday afternoon.
The Marauders got down 4-0 in the first and second innings as Victor Valley scored two runs in the first and followed with two in the second. AVC responded in the top of the third inning with an RBI by Travis Tarnoff.
After getting touched up the first two inning, starting pitcher Arturo Sanchez settled down and pitched the next four consecutive scoreless innings for the Marauders. Sanchez scattered nine hits and struck out six.
