Destinee King collected 26 points and 12 rebounds on Sunday and Stella Dulay continued her hot 3-point shooting to help SBCC down Sacramento City 71-64 for the consolation title of the Don Warkentin Memorial women's basketball tournament at West Hills-Lemoore College.

King, a 6-foot sophomore guard/forward, made 11-of-22 from the field and scored 16 points in the second half. It was her fifth straight double-double and ninth in 14 games this season.

The Vaqueros (9-6) led 31-21 late in the second quarter and were up 33-30 at halftime.

The Panthers (5-6) went on an 8-0 run to pull within a point at 33-32. Then King scored two straight baskets to ignite a 7-0 burst that extended the lead to 40-32. Sacramento never got closer than four  the rest of the way.

Dulay added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the 3-point arc. The 5-8 sophomore from Santa Maria earned all-tournament honors after averaging 15 points and shooting 52.2 percent on 3's (12-23) in three games.

Alyssa Cosio made 3-7 from long range and scored 13 points with six rebounds. Jocelin Petatan came close to a triple-double with eight points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, four steals and a blocked shot. The 5-7 sophomore from Santa Barbara High grabbed eight offensive boards. She only had two turnovers and the Vaqueros commited a season-low 12.

The Panthers outshot the Vaqueros 40.3 to 35.3 percent and each team tossed in eight 3-pointers. Free throws were the difference with SBCC making 15-24 and Sacramento 6-10.

"Our team chemistry on defense was solid and we disrupted their 3-point shooting ability," said coach Sandrine Krul. "It's nice to have this kind of win before the break. And it was also nice to see Stella get all-tourney. She was a sharp shooter for us this weekend when we needed some key buckets."

Santa Barbara won the rebound battle 48-34 and has outrebounded its last nine opponents. The Vaqueros are third in the state in rebounds, averaging 51.9 per game. They're outboarding their opponents by more than 20 a game (51.9 to 31.2), led by King (10.9 avg.), Petatan (8.0) and Jada Clark (7.8).

SBCC will take the next three weeks off, then travel to L.A. Southwest for a nonconference game on Jan. 7 at 5 p.m.
