2019 WSC North Baseball Awards Announced

The 2019 All-WSC North Baseball Awards have been announced. Cuesta College sophomore first baseman Aidan Nagle was named the divisions Player of the Year, while Santa Barbara City College sophomore lefty Ian Churchill was named the Pitcher of the Year. In the Coach of the Year category, Santa Barbara's Jeff Walker and Ventura College's Jimmy Walker (no relation) shared the title.

In WSC North play, Nagle batted .452 with a .539 on-base percentage. Nagle hit four doubles, two triples, and two home runs in 62 at bats in conference play. Nagle also mixed in 12 walks, while driving in 21 RBIs. On the season Nagle hit .375, with 38 RBIs, 23 runs scored, and a .468 on-base percentage.

Churchill made eight appearances in WSC North play, posting a 5-1 mark on the bump, with a save. In 47.2 innings worth of work Churchill struck out 55 batters, and gave up just 11 earned runs. On the season, Churchill finished with a 8-2 mark, posting a 1.97 ERA, 98 strikeouts, and a .195 batting average against.

For SBCC head honcho Jeff Walker, it's the fourth overall Coach of the Year nod, and the second in the last three years. The Vaqueros finished in a tie with Ventura College for first place in the WSC North, as each team went 13-7 in conference play. The conference title was the sixth overall for Santa Barbara, and third overall for Ventura. For Head Coach Jimmy Walker, he led the Pirates to their first conference title since 2006. The Pirates would go on to garner the #5 overall seed in the 2019 CCCAA SoCal Playoffs, while SBCC would be seeded #13.
