Citrus College sophomore guard Jeremy Smith along with his Head Coach Brett Lauer were given the top nods in the WSC East today. Smith was named the Player of the Year, while Lauer was the Coach of the Year. Lauer shared the honors with Troy Johnson of Victor Valley College who passed away unexpectedly prior to the start of the conference schedule.

Smith led the WSC East in scoring in 2017-2018 and finished third in the entire WSC. Smith averaged 21.2 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the floor, 37.1% from downtown, and 85.8% shooting from the free-throw line. Smith also averaged 5.4 assists per game and 1.6 steals a contest.

Lauer earned Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year in his second year in charge of the Owls. He guided them to a 26-4 mark on the season and 9-1 record in WSC East play.
