Citrus Men Sweep East Awards

The Citrus College Men's Basketball program, fresh off their third straight WSC East title, swept the 2018-2019 post-season conference awards. Head Coach Brett Lauer was named the Coach of the Year for the third time in three seasons, sophomore guard Joshua Caston was named the Conference Player of the Year, and fellow sophomore guard Treyvon Watts-Hale was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

Lauer's squad finished the 2018-2019 season 22-6 overall and a perfect 10-0 in WSC East play. It's the first perfect conference season for the Owls since their 2011-2012 campaign that saw Citrus go 12-0 in what was then the WSC South.

Caston was the leading scorer for the Owls, averaging a team best 13.9 points per game on a squad that had six players average at least eight points per game. In just over 24 minutes per game, Caston shot 40.2% from the floor, 34.5% from deep, and 84.6% from the charity stripe. Caston also added 2.9 boards and 2.1 assists per contest.

Watts-Hale was tasked with guarding the oppositions best player for the Owls in 2018-2019. Watts-Hale averaged 1.6 steals per game, and routinely found himself disrupting big plays and frustrating the top offensive players in the conference.
