The Cuesta College Men's Water Polo team won the 2013 Western State Conference Championship Tournament this past weekend. The Cougars, the #1 seed headed into the tournament, defeated #2 Ventura College in the Championship game to claim their third straight tournament title.
The Cougars opened up the weekend with an 11-7 win over 5th seeded Santa Monica College, paced by Cody Hughson's three goals. In the championship match, Cuesta edged the Pirates 10-7, getting three goals from Lucas Johns and 12 stops from goalie Brady Moore.
Cuesta and at least one more school are expected to qualify for the 2013 Southern California Regionals to be announced later this weekend.
