Los Angeles Valley College freshman Hakop Kaplanyan and Head Coach Jim McMillan took home the top honors in the Western State Conference. Kaplanyan became the fifth Monarch to be named the WSC's Most Valuable Player, while McMillan was named the Coach of the Year for the third time.

Kaplanyan was third in the WSC in scoring (3.8 goals per game), first in steals (4.2 steals per game), and first in assists (3.6 assister per game) during the 2014 season. Kaplanyan spearheaded a trio that helped the Monarchs to their third WSC regular season title and first ever WSC Championship Tournament title at the end of the year.

McMillan, in his 9th season with the program, guided the Monarchs to a 20-6 overall record and perfect 6-0 mark in WSC play. The Monarchs were seeded #3 in the 2014 SoCal Championships, and finished in 4th place overall, their highest such showing in program history.
