Glendora, CA - The Los Angeles Valley College Men’s Water Polo team made it four WSC titles in a row on Saturday afternoon with their sudden-death overtime victory over Citrus College. The Monarchs, who were seeded #1 headed into the tournament, got a goal from Vasil Halchev in the third overtime period to secure a conference championship.
Los Angeles Valley College’s James Gillis was named the Western State Conference Most Valuable Player, while Monarch Head Coach Jim McMillan was tabbed as the Coach of the Year. It’s the third straight year that the LA Valley College Men’s Water Polo program has swept the conference’s top awards.
The Los Angeles Valley College Men’s Water Polo team claimed their third straight Western State Conference Championship recently. The Monarchs entered the 2016 WSC Water Polo Championship Tournament as the #4 seed, but exited as the conference champs for the third time in three years.
For the second straight year, the Los Angeles Valley College Men’s Water Polo team carried the top two awards in the Western State Conference for the second straight year. Head Coach Jim McMillen earned his fourth overall Coach of the Year honors, while sophomore Arman Momdzhyan was named the Player of the Year.
The Los Angeles Valley College Men’s Water Polo program capped off it’s second straight Western State Conference Men’s Water Polo Championships recently. The Monarchs did so by holding off Citrus College in the championship game of the 2015 WSC Championships 15-14.
Los Angeles Valley College freshman Hakop Kaplanyan and Head Coach Jim McMillan took home the top honors in the Western State Conference. Kaplanyan became the fifth Monarch to be named the WSC’s Most Valuable Player, while McMillan was named the Coach of the Year for the third time.

The Monarchs knocked off #2 Citrus College, both of whom along with Cuesta College will represent the WSC at the 2014 SoCal Regionals also hosted by Citrus.
The Cuesta College Men’s Water Polo team won the 2013 Western State Conference Championship Tournament this past weekend. The Cougars, the #1 seed headed into the tournament, defeated #2 Ventura College in the Championship game to claim their third straight tournament title.
Both the Cuesta College and Ventura College Men’s Water Polo programs will be representing the Western State Conference in the upcoming CCCAA Southern California Regionals. The Cougars earned the #4 seed in the South, while the Pirates were slated as the #9 seed.
The Western State Conference Men’s Water Polo champions, Cuesta College, finished third in this weekend’s CCCAA Southern California Regionals. The Cougars were one of two teams from the WSC in this weekend’s post-season tournament.
Cuesta College’s goalie Brady Moore and Santa Monica College Men’s Water Polo Head Coach Brian Eksridge both earned the top Western State Conference honors this past weekend. Moore was named the WSC’s Player of the Year, while Eskridge was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.
