Moorpark Claims WSC Record 15th Conference Championship
The Moorpark College Softball team won their Western State Conference record 15th conference title early last week, when they swept Los Angeles Pierce College to claim the WSC Gold title. The wins, propelled the Raiders back in front of College of the Canyons who had clinched their 14th WSC title the week before.
The Moorpark College Softball team won their Western State Conference record 15th conference title early last week, when they swept Los Angeles Pierce College to claim the WSC Gold title. The wins, propelled the Raiders back in front of College of the Canyons who had clinched their 14th WSC title the week before.
Moorpark finished their 2016 regular season 28-8 overall and 14-4 in WSC Gold play. The Raiders faced a stiff test from Ventura College late, as the Pirates won nine in a row to close out the year, but in the end Moorpark held serve for their first conference championships since 2013.
Moorpark is one of three teams to represent the WSC Gold in this week's CCCAA Post-Season. The Raiders were seeded #11, while Santa Barbara City College was seeded #9, and Ventura College #15.
