Bakersfield Wins WSC North; Takes Two of Three Top Awards

The Bakersfield College Softball team under the direction of 1st Year Head Coach Casandra Goodman won the Western State Conference North Division. As a result, Goodman was named the Coach of the Year in the North, with freshman hurler Kylee Fahey being named Pitcher of the Year. Allan Hancock sophomore pitcher Bailey Killough rounded out the honors by being named the Player of the Year in the North.

Goodman, who grew up in Bakersfield, returned to her hometown this season to lead her squad to a 31-9 mark on the year. BC would go on to finish 13-1 in Western State Conference North Division play, winning their first conference title since 2011. The Renegades are also back in the post-season in 2018, and were seeded No. 6 in the CCAA Southern California Regional Post-Season.

Fahey finished her 2018 campaign 30-8 in the circle, including a 13-1 mark in WSC North play. Fahey posted a 1.40 ERA, striking out 289 batters in 244.2 innings worth of work. Fahey also hit .336 with 23 RBIs and 18 runs scored. 

Killough went 11-5 in the circle with a 2.70 ERA and 5.81 K's per 7 rate. Killough was also stellar in the batters box, hitting .430 with 59 RBIs and 31 runs scored. Killough posted a .798 slugging percentage with eight doubles, five triples, and eight home runs on the season.
