The VC baseball team dropped a 12-3 decision at Los Angeles Pierce College Tuesday in Woodland Hills, dropping the season series against the Brahmas. Matthew Ramirez was 3-5 with a double and a run scored and Grant Rodriguez had a pair of hits, including a double, and a run batted in. Caden Stillwell, Ben Drumheller and Daniel Aguilera also recorded two hits each for the Pirates.
Ventura fell in a hole early, giving up two runs in the first inning, another in the second, and three more scores in the third for a 6-0 deficit.
The Pirates got a run across in the top of the sixth. Tommy Castaneda led off with a walk and Ramirez followed with a double. One out later, Lucas Martinov grounded out to shortstop, scoring Castaneda.
Unfortunately, the Brahmas answered with three more runs in the bottom half of the frame to extend their lead to 9-1.
VC scored twice in the eighth. Ramirez led off with a single and Martinov reached base with one out on an error. Rodriguez singled home Ramirez and Brandon Contreras hit an RBI single to complete the scoring for the Pirates.
