
In a tough cross-county matchup between OC and Moorpark in the Nest, the Oxnard College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Moorpark College. This matchup showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, with Moorpark improving their record to 4-4-2 (0-0-1) and Oxnard remaining unbeaten at 7-0-3 (0-0-1).
The first half saw Oxnard take the lead when Ernesto Rodriguez netted a goal at the 37:21 mark, assisted by Michael Sauceda. The home crowd erupted as Oxnard took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
However, Moorpark responded in the second half. Marcos Hernandez scored in the 68th minute, leveling the game at 1-1. The tension built as both teams battled for the go-ahead goal, but neither could capitalize on their opportunities, resulting in a hard-fought draw.
Oxnard's goalkeeper Adrian Contreras made seven saves, while Moorpark's Artun Vance recorded four saves, including a PK. The match was characterized by a strong defensive performance by the Raiders.
"We had our chances to win, but Moorpark proved to be a tough opponent. We'll learn from this and focus on our next game," said head coach, Ross Greaney.
The Condors continue in their pursuit of a WSC crown next Friday when they travel up the 101 to Santa Barbara. The match will kick off at 7:00.
