Men's Soccer begins WSC North action tying Oxnard before falling to Pierce

The Men's Soccer team opened the gauntlet of their schedule, the WSC North conference, at perennial conference power Oxnard before capping off the week at 2nd year newcomer Pierce.
At Oxnard, the Raiders played the #5 Condors evenly throughout match, out shooting Oxnard 11-8. The Condors got on the board first in the 38th minute. In the 69th minute, John Pacheco cross found Marcos Hernadez cutting across the top and Hernandez put it in the back of the net to tie the game. Both teams fought to break the tie but the tie held up.
Taking on Pierce to cap off the week, the Raiders and Brahmas tangled in a physical battle. The Raiders had an early defensive break down allowing a Brahma in the 16th minute and held to make it 1-0 at the half.
In the 55th minute with the score 1-0, Rudy Maravilla got an assist from Marcos Hernandez to tie the game 1-1. Pierce broke the tie in the 62nd minute. At that point the match to a more physical battle as the Raiders battled to get that tying goal. In the end, the Raiders finished the game with 8 field players with 2 players sent off in the last 10 minutes.
The Raiders continue WSC North action hosting conference leader LA Mission on Tuesday, October 22nd at 4p. They cap the week off hosting Santa Barbara on Friday, October 25th at 4p as part of a soccer double-header.
