
The MSJC volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss in the opening round of the 3C2A Regional playoffs on Saturday at Ventura bringing their 2024 season to a close.
The Eagles held a lead in the opening set but could not find a way to close it out as they fell 26-24. The Pirates controlled the second and won by a score of 25-18 before completing the sweep in third with another tightly contested 26-24 win.
Josephine Springer led the MSJC offense with a team high 8 kills in the match, Jade Tolliver added 7 kills and both Audrey Franks and Megan Gajda had 6 a each. Kalia Anady and Amari Ramirez both passed out 13 assists. Three Eagles reached double figures in digs led by Brooklyn Jimenez with 12, Anady had 11, and Springer picked up 10. Hailey Frary had 4 block assists in the match and Jade Tolliver got 3.
The Eagles finish the season with a record of 17-10. They were playing in the postseason for the sixth time in the past eight seasons. MSJC also won their fourth conference championship in the past five years as they tied with San Bernardino Valley for the Inland Empire Athletic Conference title.
Four individuals also earned accolades for MSJC as Springer and Gajda earned First Team All-IEAC honors and Anady and Jimenez were named to the Second Team.
