Porterville College men's basketball team hosted the Milt Stowe Classic on Nov. 21-23 and went 2-0 during the three-day event, improving to 2-4 on the season.
The Pirates recorded their first win of the season on Thursday, defeating a solid Ventura College squad by a final score of 67-57.
Four Pirates scored in double-digits, led by Andre Bly with 20. Musa Sillah had a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds while Jaymarion Stewart and Koji Matsuoka added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
On Saturday night, the Pirates used a great defensive effort in defeating El Camino College 51-36.
Tarik Dacosta led the way with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sillah, who came one rebound short of a consecutive double-doubles, added 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists while Stewart contributed 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks for PC.
The Pirates will be back in action on Dec. 29-30 when they will compete at the Cerro Crossover at Cerro Coso College in Ridgecrest. PC is set to face Victor Valley College on Friday at 5 p.m. and host Cerro Coso on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Porterville is scheduled to play its next six contests on the road and returns home to take on College of San Mateo on Dec. 17 at 5 p.m.
