Softball concludes their season in 2nd place in WSC North and will now await 3C2A Southern California play-off seeding
The Raiders Softball team ended their season with 12-3 win over Santa Barbara in WSC North action were swept by Riverside in a weather related re-scheduled double header, 6-3 and 6-0.
The Raiders needed the win over Santa Barbara to have chance to tie Ventura atop the standings. With the Raiders having completed their WSC North schedule, Pierce forfeited their season and Tuesday game with Raiders, they sit in second place a 1/2 game behind VC and more likely will stay at 2nd place.
The Raiders were not only on the road to Santa Barbara, they were on a mission as they raced out to a 5-0 1st inning lead. Mia Gregory opened the game with a walk and steal. Leah Cowans reached base on E4 and soon was on second base as the Raiders put in the double steal with Gregory scoring. Kylie Kolkowski RBI single scored Cowans and Kolkowski was on 3rd after an E9. Kolkowski scored on Ashlyn Olson's grounder. Amanda Smith singled followed by Tatum Reyes single. Danielle Bishop 2 RBI double scored Smith and Reyes, 5-0.
The Raiders plated 2 more runs in the 2nd. Gregory singled and stole second. Cowans singled to score Gregory. They got the other run on Olson's SAC fly.
In the 5th, the Raiders would put the 8 run rule into motion scoring four more times highlighted by Kailey Greene's 2 RBI single.
Gregory went 2 for 3 with 3 stolen bases. Bishop went 2 for 2 with a double, 2 RBIs and a stolen base. Kolkowski went 1 for 3 and added to her RBI record chase with 2. Greene went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Olson also had 2 RBIs. Smith picked up her 21st win on the year.
At Riverside, the Raiders trailed in game 1 6-0 before getting on the board in in the 5th with 2 runs. Gregory opened the 5th with a homerun and Ashlyn Olson doubled off the fence to score Greene who had singled. Camila Dalmau singled to open the 7th. With two outs, Greene singled. Kolkowski RBI single scored Dalmau. 6-3 Riverside.
In game two, the Raider bats were quiet as they only managed to get 4 hits in the game. Bishop went 2 for 3 with 2 singles was the only Raider with multiple hits.
The regular season will conclude next week and the seedings will be released on Saturday, April 26th with the play-in games on Tuesday, 4/29. Stay tuned
