LANCASTER - Playing without three players due to injury, the Marauder men's soccer team couldn't hold a first half lead and Citrus scored two goals in the second half to claim a 2-1 victory over AVC Friday afternoon at Marauder Stadium.
"We have proven that we can compete with any team in conference despite that fact of our almost all freshman roster and no returning sophomores," AVC head coach Jerry Stupar said. "We will focus now on maintaining the philosophy and character of our program as we set the standard in our inaugural year with four games remaining similar to what our staff did in the rebuilding the AVC ladies program nine years ago which earned a conference championship and multiple second place finishes."
AVC's goal came off the leg of Christian Perez in the first half giving the Marauders a 1-0 lead. However, the Owls rallied back in the second half with two goals including a penalty kick goal by Ramon Gutierrez, Jr. which tied the score.
