GLENDORA - Citrus College scored an early goal only 11 minutes into the match against the Marauder men's soccer team, however, AVC showed its resiliency and responded in the second half to salvage a 1-1 tie against the Owls in the conference opener for both teams.
"I told the guys we were ready for this match even with the regards to their winning record. We have played high level teams in the preseason which helped prepare us for conference," AVC head coach Jerry Stupar said. "Matchups play a big factor in conference matches. We know we will perform well as long as we match the physicality."
Jose Mojica scored his 13th goal of the season, ranking him No. 4 in the state, in the 46th minute of the second half to tie the score. Mojica's goal came off the assist off Derian Rodriguez. Mojica had a one-on-one in the 89th minute, but the Owls' goal keeper made the save preserving the tie.
