SBCC's Medina/Rossi Win WSC Pairs Tournament

Medina has been crowned champion in both of her years at SBCC, winning last season with Emma Crabbe—Crabbe won it in 2022, too. This year, Medina/Rossi defeated Ventura 1s Rojelio/Swain in the Final.

"We're really proud of how all of our teams competed this weekend," head coach Ariana Garner said.

Medina/Rossi were not the only Vaqueros duo to have a noteworthy weekend. Alexis Zevenbergen and Nevaeh Tillet (2s) finished 7th, making them one of the 8 teams to qualify for the So Cal Pairs Regionals.

3s team Charlotte Wilson and Carolina Koceman were close to qualifying, as well, finishing just a few points away from a bid in the Elite Eight. They fell against Moorpark's Thomas/Olswang 21-19, 14-21, 15-12 in the Sweet 16.

On Tuesday, the #8 Vaqueros travel to #1 San Diego Mesa with #9 Grossmont for the So Cal Team Regionals, a place SBCC is familiar with.

"We're really excited about this opportunity because last year we had a huge upset at San Diego Mesa and earned a spot at State," Garner added. "We are hoping we can do the same this year."

Following that, Medina/Rossi and Zevenbergen/Tillet will compete at the So Cal Pairs Regionals at El Camino on Friday and Saturday.
