The Ventura College Men's Basketball team swept the 2020 Western State Conference North Division Men's Basketball awards over the weekend. Sophomore guard Timothy Turner was named the Most Outstanding Player, while sophomore wing Tone Patton was the division Defensive Player of the Year. Rounding out the awards was 9th year Head Coach Joey Ramirez who was named the Coach of the Year.

Turner was the pace setter for the conference champion Pirates in 2019-2020. Turner averaged 14.5 points, on 51% shooting from the floor and 36.3% shooting from downtown. He also contributed 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Patton meanwhile set the defensive tone on the other end of the floor for the Pirates. Patton averaged over six boards a game, and routinely made life miserable for the other squad.

Ramirez led the Pirates to their fifth straight WSC North title, for his fifth straight WSC North Coach of the Year Award. Ventura finished the regular season 21-7 and 12-0 in WSC North play. In the upcoming California Community College Athletic Association State Playoffs, the Pirates were seeded 9th and will travel to Cerritos College on Friday for a second-round matchup with the Falcons.
