Canyons Wins 5th Straight WSC Men’s Golf Title

The College of the Canyons Men's Golf team wrapped up their fifth straight Western State Conference Championship on Monday afternoon at the 2014 WSC Championships at Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena. The Cougars ran away with the competition with a two round total of 712, 33 strokes better than second place Santa Barbara City College.

Canyons was paced by the effort of Jonas Guriby Dahl who posted the best two round total of the day. Dahl started off with a 65 in round one, before firing a 74 in the second round for a two round total of 139. That was three strokes better than the next closest competitor, which happened to be teammate Aaron Grimes who had a two round total of 142. The Cougars actually claimed the top three individual slots, as Sidney Wolf had the third lowest total with a 143. Santa Barbara City College's Felix Mory matched Wolf's 143 to tie for third individually.

The Western State Conference will move on a total of four teams to next week's Southern California Championships in Poway, CA at StoneRidge Country Club. Second place Santa Barbara City College, third place Glendale College, and fourth place Ventura College will all be participating in both the team and individual competitions. In addition six individuals from the non-competing teams will move on in the individual competition.
