Allan Hancock Sweeps WSC Gold Awards

The Allan Hancock Softball program swept the 2015 Western State Conference Gold Division awards. Sophomore pitcher Katie Chenault repeated as the divisions Pitcher of the Year, while sophomore first baseman Jessica Rothanzl was named the Player of the Year. Head Coach Scia Maumausolo rounded out the honors by being named the Coach of the Year.

Chenault was easily the top hurler in the State during 2015, racking up 32 wins and 369 strikeouts, leading the California Community College Athletic Association in both categories. Chenault also posted a 0.66 ERA which was tops in the WSC and second in the entire CCCAA. Chenault was second in the entire CCCAA in innings pitched, tossing 211.1 innings this season, averaging 12.22 K's per game.

Rothanzl was second in the WSC in batting average (.538) and in RBI's (58). Rothanzl pounded out 10 home runs, 12 doubles, and scored 34 runs. She posted a .577 on-base percentage and a .942 slugging percentage.

Maumausolo led the Bulldogs to arguably their best season in program history. Hancock went 33-2-1 overall and was a perfect 15-0 in WSC Gold play. The Bulldogs have won 31 straight games as they head into the post-season where they are the #2 overall seed in the South, and will play host to Rio Hondo College in the first round of the post-season.
