The Allan Hancock College and Ventura College softball programs split the 2017 Western State Conference North Division title. Both teams held off third place Cuesta College, and finished with a 19-5 mark in conference play. It's the third title in the last four seasons for Allan Hancock College, and the first for Ventura since 2012.
It's the 11th overall title for the Pirates who closed out their 2017 conference campaign with a pair of wins over Oxnard College. The Bulldogs meanwhile, clinched their seventh title in program history with a pair of hard fought wins over fourth place Moorpark College.
The two teams will represent the WSC North in the 2017 CCCAA Southern California Playoffs. Both teams will open up the playoffs in the play-in round, with #16 Ventura College hosting #17 Grossmont College on Tuesday and #18 Allan Hancock College heading to #15 Fullerton College on the same day. The winner will advance to the regional round on the weekend.
