West LA’s Second Straight Title Leads to Post-Season Accolades

After winning it's second straight WSC South Division title, the West Los Angeles College Women's Basketball team piled up the post-season accolades. Second-year Head Coach Twan Herron was named the Coach of the Year, while sophomore Audrina Villela was named the Player of the Year.

The Wildcats went 20-9 in 2018-2019, including a perfect 6-0 mark in WSC South play. The effort helped Herron be named the Coach of the Year for the second straight season. It's the fourth time in program history that a Wildcat Head Coach was named the Coach of the Year, but Herron is the first coach in program history to earn the honors twice.

Villela averaged a team best 18.3 points per game during WSC South play. On the year, she averaged 15.9 points per contest, on 49.1% shooting from the floor and 34.4% shooting from deep. Villela also chipped in with 6.7 boards, 2.7 assists, and 2.8 steals a game for the Wildcats.
