Sisterson and Sheehy Take Home WSC North Top Honors for Santa Barbara

After helping take the Vaqueros to an undefeated WSC North season and third conference title in program history, Santa Barbara City College Head Women's Soccer Coach John Sisterson was named the Coach of the Year in the WSC North, while sophomore forward Katherine Sheehy was named the WSC North Player of the Year.

Sisterson not only led the Vaqueros to their third conference title, but arguably the best season in program history, which resulted in Santa Barbara City College finishing 2017 as the CCCAA State Runner-Up, after falling to Fresno City College 2-1 in the 2017 CCCAA State Championship game. The Vaqueros finished 2017, 21-1-1.

Sheehy meanwhile followed up her freshman campaign in which she was named a 1st team All-WSC North selection with 15 goals and 6 assists for a total of 36 points, which was the third highest total in the entirety of the Western State Conference. In WSC North play alone, Sheehy tied for the conference lead in goals scored with nine, adding an assist for a total of 19 points.

Sheehy was one of 12 total Vaqueros to earn All-WSC North honors, for the #1 overall seed out of Southern California in the 2017 CCCAA Playoffs. That included freshman keeper Holly Telliard who finished the season with the lowest GAA (0.26) in the entire CCCAA and freshman forward Isabelle Viana who finished 17th in the CCCAA with 43 points on 19 goals and five assists.
