Canyons Suffers Home Loss to Santa Barbara

College of the Canyons suffered a 9-0 conference loss to visiting Santa Barbara City College on Thursday, as the Cougars inaugural season continues.

Despite the loss, Canyons won games in five of the six singles matches. Marisa Wambolt found the most success, winning six games in her outing.

Jenny Cranert was next with four games won, followed by Leilani Figalan and Karissa Corday, who both won three games apiece.

In doubles action, the duo of Cranert/Figalan was the only team to score.

6. Karissa Corday (COC) lost to Maddie Mitchell (SBCC) — 6-2, 6-1

Doubles

1. Cranert/Figalan (COC) lost to Reyvandi/Pulver (SBCC) — 8-4

2. Wambolt/Best (COC) lost to Goss/Valtierra (SBCC) — 8-0

3. Ordonez/Brenda Aguilar (COC) lost to Pesniak/Julie Kollandsrud — 8-0

Canyons (1-5) will next host Bakersfield College at 2 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 20.
