Calhoun and Plummer Repeat as Top Award Winners in WSC North
Moorpark College sophomore guard Breanna Calhoun and Head Coach Kenny Plummer were named the Western State Conference North Division Player and Coach of the Year over the weekend. Calhoun earned the honors for the second straight season as did Plummer.
Calhoun was the fifth leading scorer in either side of the Western State Conference, while leading the entire conference in assists. Calhoun averaged 17.5 points per game on 51.7% shooting from the floor. She averaged 8.4 assists, which was nearly three times more than the next closest athlete in the conference, and 5.5 steals per game which was almost two more than the next closest competitor. It's the second straight season that a Raider earned back-to-back Player of the Year honors as Calhoun's former teammate Barbara Rangel shared the award with Calhoun in 2018-2019 and then as a freshman in 2017-2018.
Plummer continued to take the Raiders to new heights on the sideline, leading Moorpark to a 25-1 overall mark and 8-0 record in WSC North play for their second straight conference title. The Raiders head into the post-season as the #1 overall seed in Southern California, as they seek their first ever CCCAA State Championship.
