Canyons Men and Glendale Women Win Team Titles; Fisher and Macon Claim Individual Crowns

Ventura, CA -- The College of the Canyons Men's Cross Country team and the Glendale College Women's Cross Country team claimed the 2014 Western State Conference Championship team titles recently. Cuesta College's Connor Fisher won the individual men's title, while Glendale's Jasmine Macon was the top finisher on the women's side.

Canyons just edged Cuesta on the men's side earning 41 total points to Cuesta's 42. Canyons did so on the strength of four Top 10 finishes, including having the second, third, and fifth place finishers. The top runner of the day was of course Fisher who clocked the 4-Mile course in a time of 21:02.42. Canyons grabbed the next two spots as Grant Stromberg (21:47.78) finished second and Robert Pion (22:02.89) third.

For the women, Glendale ran their way to their 10th straight Western State Conference team championship. The Vaqueros ran away with the title thanks to five of the top ten spots and six of the top eleven times. Macon pulled away from Santa Monica's Madison Bird and her teammates to win the individual title finishing the 5K run in a time of 20:11.19. That edged Bird's time of 20:20.99 and teammate Concepcion Flores' time of 20:28.16.
