
GCC Secures 16th Straight Women's Cross Country Crown
The Glendale cross country teams wrapped up their Western State Conference Championship race Friday looking to defend their titles at Legg Lake. | ORIGINAL RELEASE
The women claimed their 16th straight conference title scoring a total of 64 points over Cuesta's 76 points. Annika Anderson (19:35) and Aleksandra Martinez (19:35) were the first to cross the finish line, finishing 7th and 8th, respectively. They were followed by 13th and 14th place finishers Destiny Lopez (20:01) and Karla Sanchez (20:12). The final scoring runner to give them the title was Maria Martinez (20:44) who took 24th place. The others to cross the finish line were Jordan Guzman (23:11), Xinix Perla (23:48), Norma Martinez (24:06), and Vanessa Portillo (29:20).
Glendale will have a BYE week and will then travel down to Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley on November 5 for the Southern California Championships.
