Ventura College freshman point guard Aubri Smith and Head Coach Ned Mircetic both took home the top honors for the Western State Conference North Division this past weekend. Smith was named the division's Player of the Year, while Mircetic was named the Coach of the Year.

Smith earned the honors after helping guide the Pirates to yet another undefeated WSC North season. Smith averaged 11.0 points per game for Ventura on 37.5% shooting from the floor. Smith also averaged 5.7 assists per game on the season, which was the second best mark in the entire WSC. Her 1.6 assist to turnover ratio was also the second best mark in the WSC, trailing only teammate Erin Ross.

For Mircetic, it's the 11th time in his career that has spanned 25 years that he has been named the WSC North Coach of the Year. After winning a State Championship and moving on the majority of his team last season, Mircetic turned around and led a practically new group to a 25-5 regular season and perfect 12-0 campaign in WSC North play, the 19th undefeated conference stretch in his career.
