Ventura College and Moorpark College split the 2016 Western State Conference North title. It's the second straight split for Moorpark, and their sixth conference title overall. For Ventura meanwhile it's their 15th overall title and their first since 2012.

The race for the title would go down to the wire. Moorpark would even the conference standings up with a 2-0 victory against the Pirates on November 8th, getting the game winning goal just seven minutes in and then adding an insurance strike in the 74th minute. Raider keeper Emilia Feldman would be outstanding in the win, stopping eight shots by Ventura.

Moorpark was unable to win the conference outright however as they dropped their conference finale to Santa Barbara City College 2-1. Moorpark would lead that game eight minutes in on an early goal by Amanda King, but the Vaqueros scored twice late once in the 69th minute and then the game winner in the 75th minute.

That left the door open to the Pirates who closed out WSC North play with a resounding 3-1 victory against Oxnard College. Ventura scored twice late in the first half, and after Oxnard cut the lead in half at the 54th minute got an insurance score by Melissa Cardenas in the 87th minute to seal the victory.
