SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The 2023 Western State Conference women's water polo postseason awards have been announced by the league office with Santa Barbara City College sweeping the superlative awards.
Vaqueros head coach, Chuckie Roth, was tabbed as the Coach of the Year after leading the No. 1-ranked SBCC program to a 9th consecutive title. Along with his nine-time title run throughout his decade-long tenure at the helm of the Vaqueros squad, Roth has also led the program to two CCCAA State Championships (2017 & 2022), a state runner-up finish in 2016, and two quarterfinal appearances in 2018 & 2019.
SBCC's Claire Daland was selected as the Player of the Year after a stellar sophomore campaign. The sophomore center defender from Thousand Oaks registered 17 steals, 13 goals, and five assists through six games against WSC opponents.
